Dear Parents,
The Virginia Department of Forestry needs our help! A Crozet Gazette story focused on the need
for help with acorn and seed collection.
The article states that the Virginia Department of Forestry is
collecting acorns and seeds of specific trees in order to preserve them. If you
have any acorns or seeds, please send them in no later than October 3rd! We will sort them, place them in paper
bags, label them and then I will deliver them to the Department of Forestry.
Here are pictures of the types of acorns and seeds that
are needed:
Allegheny Chinkapin

Chinese Chestnut

Hazelnut

Black Oak

Chestnut Oak

Northern Red Oak

Pin Oak

Swamp Chestnut Oak

Swamp White Oak

White Oak

Willow Oak
